Florida suffered another big blow on the recruiting trail on Wednesday afternoon.

The Gators lost 4-star linebacker Adarius Hayes to Miami. Hayes had been committed to Florida since January of this year and was expected to be a big part of Florida’s 2024 recruiting class that once ranked in the top-3 nationally.

Hayes shared the news of his flip with On3’s Hayes Fawcett:

Hayes is a huge loss for the Gators. He’s the No. 73 overall player and the No. 7 linebacker in the country for the class of 2024, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 12 player from the state of Florida.

Hayes will now have the opportunity to play against the Gators in 2024. Florida opens the season next fall against Miami in Gainesville. The Hurricanes will also host the Gators in 2025. Miami and UF have not met since the 2019 season.

Florida has signed 15 recruits so far on signing day with 3 other prospects who are committed but remain unsigned. Those prospects are DJ Lagway, LJ McCray and Izaiah Williams.

UF’s 2024 recruiting class currently ranks No. 15 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
