Florida star F Keyontae Johnson — the preseason SEC Player of the Year — suffered a scary medical incident during Saturday’s game at Florida State.

He’s been in a Tallahassee hospital ever since. On Monday, his grandfather told a reporter he was in a medically-induced coma.

Later on Monday, the Gators released an update. Per the Gators’ Twitter account, Johnson was transferred to UF Health in Gainesville and is following simple commands:

“Keyontae Johnson has been successfully transferred as planned from Tallahassee Memorial to UF Health in Gainesville by ShandsCair,” the statement reads. “He continues in critical but stable condition, is following simple commands and undergoing further tests.”

That, obviously, is a more encouraging update than we’ve gotten in recent days. Hopefully his recovery continues.
