Florida is hosting a special  ‘Saluting Those Who Serve’ game this season for the Nov. 4 matchup with Arkansas. The Gators also confirmed an alternate uniform and first-ever look for the program.

According to Florida’s press release, the Gators will rock an all-black combination in the matchup. It is the first time in program history Florida will don a black alternate.

The program also confirmed player names on the back of the jerseys will be replaced with “one of five words that are synonymous with the principles embodied by those who serve.” The five terms as selected by a representative of each branch of the military and first responders are Commitment, Courage, Excellence, Honor and Integrity.

Here’s a look at the uniforms, including a black helmet with blue lettering outlined in white:

“I know Gator Nation is excited about the team wearing black uniforms, but I don’t want us to lose sight of the intent relative to creating awareness and showing gratitude and appreciation for all branches of our military and first responders,” said head coach Billy Napier. “We’re doing something that’s going to be a lot of fun, but ultimately, we’re hopeful that we can recognize and show appreciation for a lot of selfless people that have chosen a profession of service and put their lives at risk each day.”

As all-black uniforms go, Florida’s combination is top-notch. It should look even better in action when Nov. 4 rolls around.
