Former Florida Gators QB Kyle Trask is making the best of his backup role for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Tuesday, Trask was reported to have an outstanding practice, throwing multiple touchdowns and reading routes correctly.

In one play, highlighted by the Buccaneers on Twitter, Trask threw a great corner route pass to TE Tanner Hudson for a touchdown.

After practice on Wednesday, head coach Bruce Arians was complimentary of the rookie quarterback for his throws and decision-making. Arians had this to say about Trask:

“He was outstanding in every snap he had today. He got the ball out of his hands. The last one was probably his only, wasn’t even a bad throw, there wasn’t anybody open. He’s fundamentally really getting better and I like where’s at.”

The Buccaneers picked Trask in the second round, 64th overall pick, in the 2021 NFL Draft. Several NFL analysts had Trask as high as a first-round pick before he slipped into the second round.

Trask has a long way to go to become a potential replacement for 7-time Super Bowl-winning QB Tom Brady. The Buccaneers released their first unofficial depth chart of the fall, which lists Trask as the fourth quarterback behind Brady, Blaine Gabbert and Ryan Griffin.

So far, Trask is making headlines in practices, and he will get his chance to climb the depth chart as the Buccaneers prepare for their first preseason game. The Buccaneers will host the Cincinnati Bengals Saturday, Aug. 14.
