Former Ole Miss WR Van Jefferson is transferring to the University of Florida, he indicated via his Twitter account.

Jefferson, from Brentwood, Tennessee, visited Gainesville this past weekend.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound pass catcher should be a huge addition to Dan Mullen’s offense, as the Gators are in need of an impact receiver. Jefferson tallied 87 catches for 967 yards and four TDs during his first two seasons with the Rebels.

Jefferson signed with Ole Miss and 2015, and he’s currently a redshirt sophomore. In order to play immediately, he would need an NCAA waiver and would have two years of eligibility left.

Exiting high school in the class of 2015, Jefferson was a 4-star prospect and ranked as the nation’s No. 11 overall WR and the nation’s No. 106 overall player, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

It is interesting, though, that a former Rebels WR and a former Mississippi State head coach are teaming up in Gainesville. Long live college football!
