The Sunshine state still belongs to the Gators.
Florida baseball picked up a big-time midweek win over rival Florida State Tuesday. The Gators saw the go-ahead run scored by way of a 3-run homer to left field by Tybo Evans in the bottom of the 8th, his 4th of the year and first since early march against FAU. After falling into a 3-0 deficit early, the Gators scored the final 5 runs to walk away with the W, 5-3.
Florida starter Ryan Slater started red-hot before letting 3 runs slip in the 6th inning. Three of Slater’s 5 allowed hits on the day came in the 6th. Cade Fisher earned the W with Brandon Neely earning a save, neither allowing a hit in the final 3 innings.
For those counting at home, Florida has now won 21 of the last 25 games they’ve played against the Seminoles.
