A Gator legend passed away on Tuesday.

Former Florida QB John Reaves was found dead in his home Tuesday afternoon. He was 67-years-old.

The Tampa Bay Times reported Wednesday.

“Reaves’ son, David, last heard from Mr. Reaves by text on Saturday but couldn’t reach him afterward. David Reaves found Mr. Reaves dead in his home Tuesday around 2:30 p.m. and contacted 911, according to the medical examiner’s office.”

The cause of death is still unidentified.

Reaves played for the Gators from 1969-71 and appeared in 32 games. He finished his career with 7,549 passing yards and 54 TD’s. He led the SEC in completions for three consecutive seasons.

His 7,549 passing yards were an NCAA record.
