The Oklahoma Sooners walloped Florida in the Cotton Bowl on Wednesday, cruising to an easy 55-20 victory over the short-handed Gators.

However, Heisman finalist QB Kyle Trask did play for Florida, but he was without almost all of his top weapons. And it showed, as he threw 3 first-quarter interceptions to spot the Sooners a 17-0 lead.

After the game, Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley shared a message with Trask on the field. In his postgame press conference, Riley revealed what he said:

“I told him after the game, just as a, you know, I know this is m profession but, also, as just a fan of college football, I very much appreciate him for what he did in high school, hanging through it when a lot of other people would have left,” Riley said. “What he did playing in this game tonight, even though he’s got a really bright future ahead of him. I very, very much appreciate it. I hope college football can keep people like Kyle Trask involved. And all the respect in the world for him.”

That’s a classy message from Riley to Trask, who shouldn’t be defined by one rough outing. Trask led the country with 43 touchdown passes this year.
