Mac Markway had been a Florida commit since late July, but that changed on Sunday night when the 6-foot-4, 250-pound tight end prospect out of St. Louis (DeSmet) decommitted from the Gators.

Markway is rated the No. 5 tight end in the 2023 class, and the No. 3 player in the state of Missouri. He is rated the No. 96 player overall in the class of 2023, according to the 247Sports Composite. He has a reported 27 offers.

Markway wrote on social media that, “Due to the many staff changes throughout the country, my family and my coach Carl Reed have decided its best for me to decommit from Florida and open my recruitment.”

He was the first player in Florida’s 2023 recruiting class. Markway’s cousin, Kyle, was also a St. Louis native who played at South Carolina.
