Highly coveted grad transfer Kerry Blackshear Jr. reaches decision on new school
UPDATE: Kerry Blackshear Jr. has announced he will play for Florida next season.
For weeks now, people all around college basketball have been anxiously awaiting a decision from highly coveted graduate transfer Kerry Blackshear Jr.
The former Virginia Tech big man has been on the market for a while now, showing interest in Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas and even in returning to the Hokies.
However, it appears he’s reached his decision, and per a tweet from Stadium’s Jeff Goodman, he’ll be heading to Gainesville to become a Gator:
Kerry Blackshear, barring a last-minute change of heart, is expected to choose Florida, source told @Stadium. Huge pickup for Mike White and the Gators.

This is obviously huge for Mike White and the Gators, who can now pair Blackshear with a solid 2019 recruiting class that includes 5-star SF Scottie Lewis and 5-star PG Tre Mann.
Blackshear averaged 14.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 35 games for the Hokies last season.
Man that’s disappointing. Congrats to gators. Big time get.
I told you yesterday man!
Funny thing is there was an article last week naming the 3 or 4 SEC teams expected to land him and Florida wasn’t one of them
Big time get indeed and Go Gators!
Just waiting for some Georgia fan to comment how they never recruited him because wasn’t good enough…
Georgia plays basketball?
We’re going to be fun to watch next year.
