Todd Golden has released a statement regarding the filing of a Title IX complaint which accuses the men’s basketball coach of sexual harassment, sexual exploitation and stalking.

According to the student newspaper of the University of Florida, The Alligator, Golden is accused of aiming unwanted sexual behaviors towards UF students. This includes sending unwanted sexually explicit messages, stalking and requesting sexual favors.

In his statement Saturday, Golden insisted that he has engaged an attorney regarding potential defamation while respecting “the confidentiality of an ongoing school inquiry.”

Here’s his full statement:

Golden has been under investigation by Florida since before the start of the season, an investigation that had not been reported until The Alligator ran a story on Friday.

Florida basketball has started the season 2-0 under Golden, who was hired ahead of the 2022-23 season. Before landing at Florida, Golden coached San Francisco to the NCAA Tournament in 2022. At 39 years old Golden is one of the youngest coaches in college basketball and is known for placing an emphasis on advanced analytics.

The Gators are not in action on Saturday and will next play on Monday when Grambling State comes to town. Florida has not released any statement on his status for Monday, so expect Golden to be coaching against the Tigers.
