What year is it?

If you turned on the NFL Network’s coverage of the NFL Combine Saturday morning, you may have been confused by Rich Eisen and Mike Mayock asking former Gators coach Urban Meyer about former Florida QB Tim Tebow’s chances of making it as an NFL quarterback.

After all, Tebow was drafted in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft and his not taken a snap in a regular-season game since 2012.

But here we are at the 2016 NFL Combine, during which Meyer’s Ohio State program showcases 14 alumni, and he’s still fielding questions about the former Heisman Trophy winner.

Here’s what his response was to Eisen’s question about whether or not he thought Tebow still had a future in the NFL, as recorded by 247Sports:

“Not many people know this but he is the number two in passing efficiency in the history of college football behind Sam Bradford. So obviously he got the job done. I thought last year with the Eagles was his chance. I wish he got the foot in the door because he’s a winner, a competitor, and makes his team better. I don’t know why [he hasn’t been successful], but obviously I’m very biased.”

One question was not enough.

Mayock followed up by asking Meyer if he thought Tebow should pursue playing quarterback in a different league, such as the arena or Canadian football, to both showcase his abilities and improve upon the quickness of his release.

Meyer indicated that he has been involved in that decision process with the Tebow family and believes it could potentially be a good idea, but did not give any reason to believe that the 28-year-old is seriously considering it at this point in time.
