In July, Florida Gators superfan and cheerleader George Edmondson, known to UF fans everywhere as “Mr. Two Bits,” passed away at the age of 97.

Florida plays its first home game of the 2019 season Saturday night in The Swamp against UT Martin. The Gators are honoring Edmondson, unveiling a Mr. Two Bits mural and having members of the Edmondson family serve as the game’s honorary Mr. Two Bits. Gators players will also have a “Two Bits tie” decal on their helmets Saturday night.

Edmondson retired (a second time) from doing the iconic “Two-Bits, Four-Bits, Six-Bits, a Dollar. All for the Gators, Stand Up and holler!” cheer in 2008. From 2009-12, Gators mascots and cheerleaders continued the cheer until in 2013, Florida began to have honorary Mr. Two Bits lead the cheer on the field prior to kickoff. Many Gator Greats, including Steve Spurrier, Danny Wuerffel, Cris Collinsworth, Lito Sheppard, Caeleb Dressel, Dara Torres, the 2006 and 2007 national champion men’s basketball teams and many others have been honorary Mr. Two Bits over the last few years.

Many of those honorary Mr. Two Bits can be seen in the video below, a thank you to Edmondson, who is shown at the end of the clip:
