Following one of the most accomplished playing careers in modern Southeastern Conference history, Tim Tebow is set to be immortalized by the University of Florida as the school announced the former Heisman Trophy-winning Gator quarterback will be the latest member to join the Ring of Honor in Gainesville.

Tebow’s Ring of Honor will be unveiled during Florida’s Oct. 6 home game against LSU. At that time, Tebow will join Wilber Marshall, Emmitt Smith, Steve Spurrier, Danny Wuerffel and Jack Youngblood as Ring of Honor members.

Tebow offered up this statement with the official news from the school:

“I am so humbled and thankful to be able to receive this blessing, being inducted into the Ring of Honor,” Tebow said. “I know in my heart that I truly couldn’t have done it without amazing coaches and teammates who loved and sacrificed for each other so that we could accomplish our goals.

“Loving Florida wasn’t just something I did for four years, but it has been a lifelong passion. I want to thank the University of Florida and all the fans for making Gator Nation so special. I was born a Gator, I played as a Gator, and I’ll always be a Gator!

“God Bless and Go Gators!”

In addition to those comments, Tebow offered up just what an honor joining the elite class of Florida players would mean to his family and to his former teammates:
