Time for Florida sports talk radio hosts and college football talking heads to find a new topic to debate. The Florida-UCF back-and-forth that has played out in the press appears to be over.
Whether Florida and UCF should play in the regular season started earlier this month when UF AD Scott Stricklin told the Orlando Sentinel he would like to schedule the Kinghts under the right circumstances, meaning a “two-for-one” (two games in Gainesville, one in Orlando) like the Gators have with USF.
UCF AD Danny White publicly responded saying the Knights were only interested in a home-and-home series or a neutral-site meeting. Like most UCF stories involving the SEC, it got a lot of national media attention. Talking heads everywhere shared their two cents.
In a recent TV interview (below), White took a more diplomatic tone, saying he understood Florida’s position, acknowledging it makes sense for UF, and says he has moved on from trying to schedule the Gators.
