Florida’s 2021 season has essentially come off the rails, to the point that many are wondering if Dan Mullen will survive his 4th season in Gainesville.

The Gators were ranked 10th nationally at one point earlier in the year, but they gave up 52 points in a win over Samford on Saturday, which was just their second victory in their last 6 games.

At 5-5, Florida needs a win in its final 2 games of the season to qualify for a bowl game.

Remaining on the schedule is a road game at Missouri, which also needs a win to get bowl eligible, and a rivalry game at home against Florida State.

How will the Gators fare in those 2 matchups?

While many college football observers and fans are down on Florida, ESPN’s FPI likes the Gators’ chances in their final 2 games.

The computer model gives Mullen’s team a 77 percent chance of winning in Columbia and a 76 percent chance of beating the Seminoles. Added together, FPI gives Florida a 58 percent chance of winning out to finish at 7-5.

Would 2 wins be enough to get Mullen off the hot seat?

That remains to be seen, but another loss would almost certainly leave the 49-year-old in a precarious situation.

Florida’s game with Missouri next Saturday will be played at 4 p.m. EST and televised by the SEC Network.
