Deyon Bouie is a major SEC target in the class of 2022, and the 5-star athlete from Bainbridge, Georgia, has made his college commitment.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound athlete is ranked the No. 2 athlete in America in his class, and the No. 2 player in the state of Georgia, according to the 247Sports Composite.
He told DawgNation why he chose his mother’s birthday to announce his choice of Georgia to play for the Bulldogs.
โMy freshman year I told her that before my 11th-grade season was over that I was going to commit somewhere on her birthday,โ Bouie said. โI told her that my freshman year again after we won the state title. I said โMom, Georgia just dropped the offerโ and thatโs my dream school since I was a kid and I canโt turn it down.โ
Why did he choose Georgia? For starters, there are a couple of former Bainbridge Bearcats on the Georgia coaching staff, including coach Kirby Smart and defensive graduate assistant Nick Williams.
โIt is just really family,โ Bouie said. โFamily really. Like Nick Williams, I talk to him every day like every at all hours of that day. Just building that family. Weโve got a bond. I donโt want it to break so we are going to keep it going.โ
Bouie told both Williams and defensive backs coach Charlton Warren some time ago.
โTheir reaction had me excited,โ Bouie said. โI didnโt know how they were going to react to it. It was a good reaction. They were hype. They were ready for me to blow it up and tell the reporters and stuff.โ
