Georgia linebacker Adam Anderson, who was suspended after being accused of rape by a 21-year-old woman, has now asked, through his lawyer, to be reinstated to the UGA football team.

Seth Emerson of The Athletic shared the details on Twitter:

Anderson’s lawyer. Steve Sadow, met with some school officials to go over their sexual misconduct policy. Afterward, he sent a letter to Georgia Associate Athletic Director Darrice Griffin to request that Anderson be reinstated by the team. No word yet from head coach Kirby Smart or anyone else from the Georgia administration on whether that request will be accepted.

Anderson, who has been a force on the Dawgs No. 1 defense, was accused of rape by a woman who allegedly went to a house where Anderson was, stayed the night, and was awakened with him trying to have nonconsensual sex with her.

She made a police report with the Athens-Clarke County police department and it’s now under investigation.
