When a program has as much success as Georgia has experienced in recent seasons, two things are going to happen to the coaching staff: assistants and support staff are going to leave for promotions and the openings created are going to attract great candidates to fill the void.

Like clockwork, both things have happened in Athens this offseason as Kirby Smart’s staff has seen some defections from his assistant and support staff but the Bulldogs have begun to fill in the gaps with some quality hires of their own.

The latest such hire comes with the addition of Austin Armstrong from Louisiana-Lafayette. Previously a GA at ULL, Armstrong will serve as a defensive quality control coach in Athens. This news was first reported by FootballScoop.

Armstrong won’t be the only new face on the Georgia coaching staff this season as the Bulldogs recently announced the hiring corners coach Charlton Warren. Smart is currently still waiting to hire a defensive coordinator to replace Mel Tucker.
