Georgia adds another game against Clemson, this time in Charlotte
Just when you thought Georgia’s non-conference schedule couldn’t get much more difficult, the Bulldogs have added another game against Clemson.
Georgia is already on the books to open the 2021 season with a home game against San Jose State but as first reported by Brett McMurphy of Stadium, Kirby Smart’s program will instead open the season in Charlotte against Clemson to kick off the 2021 season on Sept. 4.
Clemson does not currently have a game scheduled for that date but the Tigers did have four non-conference games on their books for the 2021 season prior to this news.
This matchup between Georgia and Clemson would be the sixth one we are set to get in the coming years as the two programs have previously agreed to a number of matchups.
Here’s a look at the matchups between the two programs that were already on the books:
- 2024 on Aug. 31 in Atlanta, GA
- 2029 on Sept. 15 at Clemson
- 2030 on Aug. 31 at Georgia
- 2032 on Sept. 4 at Georgia
- 2033 on Sept. 3 at Clemson
This sixth game in the upcoming series between the two programs is just the latest in Georgia’s beefing up of its non-conference slate in the years to come. Check out the following noteworthy non-conference games on Georgia’s future schedules, which annually features Georgia Tech in addition to these games:
- 2020 vs Virginia (in Atlanta, GA)
- 2022 vs Oregon (in Atlanta, GA)
- 2023 at Oklahoma
- 2025 at UCLA
- 2026 vs UCLA
- 2027 at Florida State
- 2028 at Texas
- 2028 vs Florida State
- 2029 vs Texas
- 2030 vs Ohio State
- 2031 at Ohio State
- 2031 vs Oklahoma

This is a great move by coach.
To be the best, you have to play the best.
To get a Tourney invite, you need a resume.
However, Clemson destroyed South Carolina’s program.
Then South Carolina destroyed us last year.
Clemson, like they did SC, may crush our hopes and dreams of ever getting back to the top of the SEC East and staying there.
Our slide back into our historical home as 3rd in the East may be accelerated with this decision.
Clemson isnāt in the SEC East, so
doesnāt really affect the race to Atlanta. Beat Florida (the only other relevant East team) most years and UGA will be fine.
Ignore him. Horrible troll.
The worst
Yeah Clemson – UGA was traditionally a good rivalry but they haven’t played much since 2000. Last couple of games were good ones. I am looking forward to rejuvenating this rivalry. Good on Clemson too…At least in the near term they really need some strong OOC games given the state of the ACC right now. These are the sorts of games that the fans want to see though.
You canāt call a team irrelevant after losing to them lol
Do you think USCjr is relevant?
That’s not funny!
What’s the matter Trudawg, did the trucker throw some sand in the vaseline?
Ewww
We could be clipping along seemingly just fine and then Wham! Clemson derails our season, recruiting, playoff chance, psyche, players etc….
We haven’t won a championship in 40 years, yet we finally clawed our way to the top of the East again, but we never stay long.
Our historical spot is 3rd-5th in the East.
We don’t need any headwinds as we try to maintain our current place.
It’s great to attempt, but when you consider we already lose one every year we shouldn’t, this currently means we have 2 losses on our ’21 season already.
As a long and true fan like myself, you must learn to see and look out for what may drag us back down to our historical place in the East.
We get it…your team doesn’t play anyone
You can criticize us for a lot.
Playing an easy schedule isn’t usually one of them.
You are not us
Trudawg… seriously you need to get a life..
Alright, ignoring Trudawgs stupidity, this is great! You like to play the best and frankly the 2021 OOC schedule was the weakest of the decade by far. Plenty of bulletin board material for sure thanks to Dabo last season.
Would have rather seen a Virginia Tech, Washington, Penn State, West Virginia, Michigan, etc TBH, but will be an exciting game nonetheless.
ClemPson UGA is a rivalry that needs renewing. How would VT or WV be a better matchup?
Good move by Kirby. I have a feeling that the “poor little clemson” stuff from 2019 is gonna haunt datboi. Go Dawgs !
Wow! Ga ND 19 – Ga Bama 20 Ga ClemGoob 21…thatās what Iām talking about. Way to go Kirby!
Looking out through the decade (and beyond), in addition to the annual Tech game, which may get better now that Tech is leaving their 1940’s offense, you have with respect to non conference games:
2020 – Virginia (They get Bama from the west in Tuscaloosa so not bad)
2021 – Clemson
2022 – Oregon
2023 – Oklahoma
2024 – Clemson
2025 – UCLA
2026 – UCLA
2027 – FSU
2028 – Texas, FSU
2029 – Texas, Clemson
2030 – Clemson, Ohio State
2031 – Ohio State, Oklahoma
2032 – Clemson
2033 – Clemson
Now you never know how it is going to shake out that far down the line, but kudos for scheduling meaningful non-conference games prior to the playoffs and frankly with playoff expansion looking pretty likely later in the decade I think having multiple big dogs on the schedule down the road will pay off.
It would be a lot easier if Clemson would just come on over to a real football conference.
The cocks won’t let that happen.
SC would have 1/14th say. Not enough to block anyone
Clemson won’t join the SEC ever…why lose games every year and forfeit that “cakewalk into the Playoffs” ? They are following FSU’s model as created by Bobby Bowden…stay in the ACC and win, win, win.
I promise you if Clemson could get out of their ACC deal they would kill to be in the SEC.
It wouldn’t help the SEC and ClemPson can cruise to a playoff spot every year so I’m not so sure they would really want to make the switch.
Clemson has said repeatedly they are not interested in the SEC, over here they would have to put some effort into their games.
Being in the SEC is not a winner winner for little-ole-clemson….factor in at least a couple losses per year=no playoff spot. They’ll be in the ACC…unless the ACC is disbanded.
UGA/Clemson to start the 2021 season. Both teams probably coming off conference/division championships, CFP appearances, one possibly the defending NC. Both probably starting new QB’s.
Game Day will be Charlotte that weekend, as will I.
Yes!
Could Clemson and Georgia meet in the January 1, 2021 Rose Bowl? Possibly. How big would that be around these parts!
If you are going to be the man you’ve got to beat the man … you’ve got to walk the aisle.
whoooooooa.
Way to go AD McGarity and Coach Smart!
Awesome. The ClemPson UGA rivalry was one of my favorites growing up. I am going to have to try and go to this one.
I’m looking forward to this one..good move by CKS and whinny Dabo for scheduling this one…
Do the coaches really have anything to do with the schedules? Either way, i like it..
As much as i know FCS schools need the big paycheck, I would like to see less of that and more games like UGA – Clemson.
Knock dabo out early so he’s irrelevant by November!!!
I’m pretty sure they have a lot of say in it…no matter what we hear…
Yeah coaches definitely help with setting up schedules
dabo sure lost a lot of respect of fans & coaches for his continued rants about “Disrespected” & “lil-ole-clemson” last year. His 2020 team is not as talented as the 2019 one. QB/Receivers yes, but there are some other ??? Georgia should beat dabo’s team and continue on to Tuscaloosa feeling pretty good. We all hope they beat clemson.
Yes! I love it! We get ālil āol Clemsonā to start 2021 season in Charlotte.
Gonna have to make the trip.
This used to be a great rivalry every year.
Maybe it will open up to future games each season.
Go Dawgs!
A nice, brutal matchup against a high-quality opponent to start the season–I love it.
Looking forward to this one. Huge risk for Clemson to schedule a strong out of conference game as a loss will most likely keep them out of the playoffs.
It was a huge rivalry in the 70’s and 80’s. Glad they are bringing it back. We are to close to ClemPson to not play them more regularly
I was actually at the game in 1991 when UGA upset Clemson on the same day that the Braves won their division. Was a great day for the state of Georgia.
I was there too, there was actually as much or more interest in the Braves game rather than the UGA game. That hasn’t happened before or since.
If there was an IQ requirement for this board, we thankfully would have never seen Trudawg. Hes no Dawg fan. He is a TruLoser. The mole on his back called the dr and asked that Trudawg be removed. This was after his proctologist finally found his head. So sad.
I feel Safe knowing that Virginia will get the dawg crap beat out of them
