Carson Beck and Georgia did not have an amicable breakup, according to a report.

Per CBS Sports’ Brandon Marcello, tensions between Beck and the Georgia program have been rising in recent weeks. That news comes hours after Beck officially entered the transfer portal — reversing course on his previous decision to enter the 2025 NFL Draft.

Per Marcello’s report, a member of “Beck’s camp” informed Georgia head coach Kirby Smart of his intentions to enter the portal shortly before it became public on Thursday.

Here’s an excerpt from Marcello’s report detailing the tensions between Beck and certain members of the UGA program:

The nature in which Beck’s departure played out contributes to further sourness in the breakup. Sources say Georgia, at large, had already been miffed with Beck being away from the team during much of College Football Playoff preparation for the Sugar Bowl as Beck sought opinions from doctors in California and Texas.

Beck was on the sideline for the Sugar Bowl, where the Bulldogs’ season ended in a 23-10 loss to Notre Dame. Beck arrived in New Orleans a day later than his teammates and skipped the team’s media day. Some within the program that week seemed ready to move on from Beck, whose personality and headline-grabbing relationship with Miami basketball star and TikTok sensation Hanna Cavinder had become a distraction and a source of frustration for some teammates, sources said, though many of his teammates remained supportive of him as he dealt with a season-ending surgery.

Beck has been linked to Miami in the hours since news initially broke that he would be entering the transfer portal. He reportedly has entered the transfer portal with a “no contact” tag.

Beck spent the first 5 seasons of his collegiate career in Athens. He will have 1 year of eligibility remaining.
