In spite of Tim Brando’s comments on Twitter, CBS went with Georgia-Notre Dame as its annual primetime game.

That proved to be a good choice, as the game did huge ratings on Saturday night. Notre Dame is a national brand, and the game against No. 3 Georgia brought in a ton of viewers.

Per a release from CBS Sports, the game drew a 6.2 rating, making it the highest-rated game on any network this season:

CBS Sports’ coverage of the SEC ON CBS’ game between No. 3 Georgia vs. No. 7 Notre Dame on Saturday, Sept. 21 (8:00-11:45 PM, ET) is the highest-rated college football game on any network this season earning an average household metered market rating/share of 6.2/13.

The 6.2/13 for Notre Dame at Georgia was the highest-rated college football game on CBS in the month of September in six years since a 9.0/21 for No. 1 Alabama at No. 6 Texas A&M on Sept. 14, 2013.

There’s still a long way to go this season, but those numbers will be tough to beat moving forward.
