Chris Doering explains his biggest worry for Georgia’s 2024 national title hopes

Chris Doering has one concern related to Georgia and the hopes of the Bulldogs to win the national championship this fall, and it has nothing to do with the talent on the roster.
That’s not surprising, considering the Bulldogs remain one of the best recruiting teams in the country under Kirby Smart. However, Doering does believe the mentality of the program could be lacking in 2024.
“The thing that’s even more so worrisome to me is that I feel there could be some ideas of complacency setting in,” said Doering in a conversation with Alyssa Lang. “This entitlement that we’re Georgia and we’re just going to win championships.”
Asked to expand on his comments, Doering pointed to Georgia’s old-school edge that powered the Bulldogs to their back-to-back national championships. That edge feels lost with this current generation of players, though Doering says the opportunity is there for the Bulldogs to prove him wrong.
“I worry about the edge, the thing that made Georgia so great in trying to get that first national championship in 4 decades is that they were so hungry,” explained Doering. “They had an edge about them, they had a chemistry about them, they were all aligned in the same goal to get there.
“Now what I see is a bunch of guys walking around in Louis Vuitton luggage, guys wearing nice clothes, and driving nice cars and I wonder how much of when you get that at this edge, you feel like you already have arrived.”
While Doering is concerned about that edge, Georgia remains the betting favorite to win it all with bet365 listing the Bulldogs at +320 to win the national title. Ohio State (+350) and Texas (+500) are the next closest programs ahead of Week 4, and fans can use SDS’s bet365 KY bonus code to get the best offers.
“Complacency is the enemy of excellence.”
