How determined are Georgia fans to get to South Bend? Delta found out the hard way
The Georgia Bulldogs are making their first-ever trip to South Bend, Indiana, to take on Notre Dame this weekend and it’s safe to say it’s a popular ticket for UGA fans.
In fact, it’s so popular that Delta’s Friday morning flight from Atlanta to South Bend was full and needed someone to be bumped.
However, the airline quickly found out that Georgia fans were very determined to get to the game on time, and bumping a passenger cost Delta dearly.
Zach Klein, the sports director for WSB in Atlanta, chronicled Delta’s efforts to get someone to take a later flight to South Bend:

The price continued to rise — $2,800, $3,000 and eventually $4,000 — before someone finally took the offer:
Sold!!!
This kind lady volunteered to get bumped.. for a 7pm flight tonight to South Bend.. for $4,000…

The woman who took the offer will still have plenty of time to get to South Bend before Saturday’s kickoff, and now she’ll do so with an extra $4,000.
