ESPN reporter gives latest update on UGA QB Jacob Eason's injury
The status of sophomore quarterback Jacob Eason looms large over the SEC East heading into Week 2 of the season. If you were unaware, the talented Georgia player was injured early against Appalachian State and never returned to the field. Eason’s injury occurred while he was escaping pressure and running toward the sideline.
While Georgia has yet to officially reveal the status of Eason heading into this weekend’s trip to Notre Dame, ESPN reporter Chris Low dropped a good nugget on the QB’s status during the latest episode of WNML radio program The Nation Sunday evening.
Here’s what Low had to say about Eason:
“Georgia, the latest update I have on Jacob Eason — he is going to be out, for… I don’t know how many weeks but it looks like, the latest thing is, it will not be season-ending,” Low said on the air. “We’ll see how that shakes out. They got a little bit better report later in the day, that it’s not going to be season-ending.”
In Eason’s place, Georgia played true freshman Jake Fromm against the Mountaineers. The rookie played well considering it was the first action of his college career. In fact, Fromm played significantly better than Eason did during his short time on the field.
Kirby Smart is scheduled to meet with the media Monday at Noon in Athens.
