Georgia breaks national championship points record in blowout vs. TCU
The Georgia Bulldogs offense has been unstoppable against TCU’s putrid defense.
Georgia scored on every offensive possession in the first half. TCU finally forced a punt in the third quarter; however, that’s been it.
With over 9 minutes left in the fourth quarter, Georgia scored its 59th point of the game. That set a College Football Playoff national championship points record — breaking Alabama’s 52 point-record in 2020-21.
Looking back to the BCS era, USC’s 55 points vs. Oklahoma in the 2004-05 Orange Bowl was the previous record. Georgia also broke that record Monday night.
Bulldogs quarterback Stetson Bennett finished 18-of-25 for 304 yards, 4 passing touchdowns and 2 rushing touchdowns. Little doubt he’ll be the game’s Offensive MVP.
Receiver Ladd McConkey has caught 5 passes for 88 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brock Bowers has recorded 7 catches for 152 yards and 1 touchdown.
