Georgia has landed a commitment from one of the top defensive linemen in the 2025 class.

On Saturday, Hillside (N.J.) High defender Darren Ikinnagbon announced his verbal pledge to the Bulldogs. In February, he revealed a top 8 that also included Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Rutgers, and Duke.

Ikinnagbon is a 4-star prospect in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s ranked as the fourth-best recruit from the state of New Jersey and the 19th-best defensive lineman in the class. Overall he sits at No. 155 in the national player rankings.

He’s a 6-foot-6, 250-pound defensive lineman with some malleability to move around along the front. According to Dawgs247, Georgia is recruiting him as an edge rusher. His frame could lend itself to a down defensive lineman or a stand-up outside ‘backer depending on how he fills out.

He finished his junior season with 52 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles.

Ikinnagbon is the seventh known commit to pledge to Georgia in the 2025 class. The group ranks 13th nationally with 6 of the 7 commits rated as blue-chip prospects.

With Georgia hosting its annual spring game on Saturday, perhaps there are 1 or 2 more wins to be had on the trail before the weekend is up.

Ikinnagbon is also the third prospect from the Garden State to commit to Georgia in the last 2 cycles. Georgia’s top-ranked 2024 signing class featured the No. 1 and No. 3 recruits from the state. The Bulldogs are viewed as the favorite to land the state’s No. 2 prospect this cycle as well, with Kirby Smart’s group the perceived leader in the recruitment of Toms River (N.J.) North tackle Jaelyne Matthews.
