With so many Bulldog players bypassing the draft and deciding to return to Georgia this season, the team’s Pro Day event was lacking much excitement heading into the event. That quickly changed, however, when defensive lineman Trenton Thompson made an appearance at the facility.

Here’s a photo of Thompson showing up at the event inside Georgia’s new indoor practice facility.

Thompson, the MVP of Georgia’s 31-23 Liberty Bowl win over TCU, is currently away from both the program and school as he deals with what the school is calling a ‘significant medical issue’ that required an overnight stay in the hospital. Thompson racked up three sacks in the bowl game and was constantly wrecking havoc in TCU’s offensive backfield on his way to earning MVP honors.

His Wednesday visit is the latest sign that the big lineman is well on his way to returning to the field, something that makes Georgia’s defense potentially much stronger in the coming season. Should Thompson return to the team, as expected, and successfully move on from his health issues, UGA’s next Pro Day will likely feature the defensive lineman on the field impressing NFL scouts instead of simply viewing the activities from the sidelines.
