Many people are unhappy with how the Heisman Trophy finalists turned out. Perhaps no one is as unhappy as FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt.

The 4 finalists were Caleb Williams, C.J. Stroud, Max Duggan and Stetson Bennett. However, Klatt went all in on protesting Stetson Bennett’s case via a Twitter thread.

First, he came up with 6 alternative finalists, which may be a little much, but definitely made his point.

He didn’t stop there and instead came up with 4 more.

“Bijan Robinson, Chase Brown, Zach Charbonnet, Marvin Harrison Jr….and others…Again, Bennett is a good player and perfect for Georgia…But hardly a Heisman finalist,” Klatt said.”

Klatt certainly was in a class by himself by naming that many alternatives, and it set him apart from other analysts.

This year, Bennett had 3,425 passing yard, 20 passing touchdowns and 6 interceptions along with 7 rushing touchdowns. Those numbers are good, but don’t scream Heisman finalist.

For reference, here are the stats from the last year’s finalists that were quarterbacks:

  1. Bryce Young – 4,872 Yds, 47 TD, 7 Int
  2. Kenny Pickett – 4,319 Yds, 42 TD, 7 Int
  3. C.J Stroud  – 4,435 Yds, 44 TD, 6 Int

It should be noted, however, that each year is different and nobody has had quite those type of numbers this year. But the basis of Klatt’s argument has merit. If not Hooker or Young, perhaps the voters should have looked at other positions for the award.
