One of the biggest surprises of the 2020 NFL Draft was former Georgia QB Jake Fromm falling all the way to Round 5, where the Buffalo Bills finally picked him.

Prior to the draft, Fromm was getting some Round 2 buzz, but he ended up having to wait until well into Day 3 of the event to hear his name called.

After Fromm went to the Bills, Georgia coach Kirby Smart said he’s happy for his former quarterback, even if Fromm now has to move to a cold city (via DawgNation):

“I’ve been sitting here holding my breath that he’d get picked,” Smart said on NFL.com. “And now he’s going to cold, cold Buffalo.”

Smart said he thought Fromm would be off the board much sooner, as did most of the people watching the draft:

“I thought all along he’d be a third or a fourth-round pick, and he lasted to the fifth,” Smart said. “There’s only one quarterback on the field at a time, and so many teams have filled their need. It was a weird year, things happened in a strange way.”

How will Fromm fare in Buffalo? The Bills already have a starter in Josh Allen, so we’ll see what happens in the buildup to the 2020 season.
