Georgia head coach Kirby Smart spoke with reporters on Tuesday, and was asked about star cornerback Kelee Ringo, who is most beloved by Georgia fans for his Pick-6 play in the national championship win over Alabama.

Several Georgia fans have admitted that they’ve watched the play many times.

On Tuesday, Smart told the media about Ringo, โ€œYou worry about a play like that going to a guyโ€™s head. He was the first to admit โ€˜Iโ€™m not where I need to be.โ€™ Heโ€™s been a leader, heโ€™s been an everyday work guy. Heโ€™s worked really hard to be a good player. The play doesnโ€™t define the player. But he canโ€™t let that do that to him. He can still ascend. He has a lot of things he can improve on.โ€

Smart knows he has lost many key starters from last yearโ€™s defense that ranked first in the nation in points allowed per game (10.2). One of the biggest three returning starters to Georgiaโ€™s defense is Ringo, who is still young as he is a redshirt sophomore.

Last season, Ringo accounted for 34 total tackles, 26 solo tackles, 1 sack, 8 pass breakups, 2 interceptions with 1 defensive touchdown. Ringo is rated as No. 12 in ESPN NFL Draft analyst Todd McShayโ€™s preseason top 50 board.
