Kirby Smart shared his disappointment in the response to traffic-related incidents by Georgia players in recent months.

At SEC Media Days on Tuesday in Nashville, Smart was asked about the issue.

“I’m disappointed any time we have traffic incidents,” Smart said. “It’s very evident when you look at it, we’ve had traffic citations and incidents throughout the history of being at the University of Georgia. And we actually don’t have more now than we’ve had in the past. So what concerns me most is the safety of our players. When you drive at high speeds, it’s unsafe, and we don’t want that to happen.”

Smart also said he realizes that speeding happens for 18-to-20-year-olds, and it happened to him at that age. He added that Georgia is doing all it can to take that out and eradicate those issues.

“What we want to do is take that out and make it safe and not have high speeds,” he said. “If someone’s going to have a speeding ticket, it shouldn’t be a super speeder.”
