The Georgia Bulldogs are getting better each week, in large part because of the play of quarterback Carson Beck. Against Tennessee, Beck finished 24-of-30 for 298 yards and 3 touchdowns. It took a couple weeks to get going, but Beck has been special for the majority of the year.

On the season, he has thrown for 3,022 yards, 18 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. His coach, Kirby Smart, thinks he would be more in the Heisman Trophy talk if the Bulldogs defense wasn’t playing as great is that unit is.

“I don’t lobby for these guys, but it is easy to look back and see what these guys have done,” Smart said. “The worst thing for Beck individually is that he plays with a good defense. It makes you want to not run it up. Some of those other guys have to score 40 points to win the game. We as an offensive staff don’t think we have to score 40 points to win the game.”

Heading into this season, a huge factor on whether or not this team would compete for a third national championship was the play of Beck. While he doesn’t put up the numbers as some of these other quarterbacks, there aren’t very many quarterbacks playing better than Beck right now.

The Bulldogs will be in action next week against Georgia Tech.
