There are plenty of similarities between Georgia and Auburn year in and year out. It’s typically the rosters and recruiting battles featuring players from both sides of the Alabama line.

This year, Georgia coach Kirby Smart said he sees some of Jake Fromm in Auburn QB Bo Nix, who has grown into his role as a key leader for the Tigers. He’s also developed as a quarterback.

Last year in the 21-14 loss to Georgia, Nix was 30-for-50 passing for 245 yards and a touchdown. He also had 13 carries for 42 yards and a TD.

“You can’t put a price tag on experience,” Smart said on the SEC coaches media teleconference on Wednesday. “I mean, I saw that with Jake Fromm, I mean is the first year you saw these simple mistakes, and then the next year it was like okay I know the down and distance better, I know where the yard marker is, I know I’m in field goal range, don’t take a sack. I know where I’m going with a ball. I’ve seen this defense already about eight times, I know exactly what to do with the ball. so it’s you know it’s one of those deals that with experience, you make better decisions and it’s very obvious that his learning curve is really fast.”

Nix has a better understanding of his offense, and how to use it and make decisions.

“He makes some decisions in the last game that he did last year he wouldn’t make that decision that fast,” Smart said. “And what happens is when you make that decision a split second sooner. It gives that lot out, you know, an extra yard to run after the catch, and also that’s a big place to be catching a tackle but he’s done a tremendous job and it’s really good football player.”
