Kirby Smart shredded on social media for Georgia's blowout loss to LSU
Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs fell to No. 2 LSU 37-10 in Saturday’s SEC Championship Game. The No. 2 Tigers were favored, but Ed Oregeron’s squad wasn’t supposed to win in such a lopsided manner.
On Twitter, it’s an absolute bloodbath as Smart is getting shredded by fans of UGA (and just college football in general). Mark Richt and Justin Fields are getting a lot mentions in the Smart-related tweets:
Kirby Smart chose Jake Fromm over Justin Fields. That’s it, that’s the tweet.

Kirby Smart is Jim Harbaugh if JH played in a division that didn’t have Ohio State…
Nobody is convincing me otherwise

Kirby Smart is a loser
— Brent Patrick (@brentdpatrick) December 8, 2019
I'm not saying that Kirby Smart should be fired. That would be a ridiculous take. But letting Justin Fields walk and go to Ohio State because you wanted Jake Fromm to be your QB1 is a borderline fire-able offense.

Georgia definitely thinks way too highly of him and his recruiting. He better not lose in Jax they just might turn on him and start calling for his head until signing day of course lol
Lots of “star” counting…I do agree geogia fans over estimate the quality of the talent they have. There have been some recruiting misses especially at WR.
That’s why yall are in the SEC championship game right?
Was Georgia really there though?
Just wait ’til next year.
Got to hand one thing to Georgia, no one else in the SEC has as many conference or national titles claimed in August.
Got to hand it to you and Jaccobis. Those were some of the funniest responses I’ve seen in the SDS comments in a while.
And sandwiched in between was Trudawg’s “Just wait ‘til next year.” I’m not sure if he was intentionally adding to the humor by being sarcastic, or whether he was serious. I hope for his sake it was the former.
Well played State Farm. Well played.
Georgia fans take Kirby for granted. 3 straight SEC championship games. He is the best coach in the East and Georgia doesn’t need to get rid of him. Richt never made it a national championship. Georgia fans need to chill. As long as he beats Florida, Auburn and UT he will be just fine.
Richt never had the benefit of the 4 team playoff. Georgia likely would have made the playoff a couple times while he was there. I think both UF and UT will push georgia in the coming years.
I agree but he still has taken us to the SEC championship 3 years in a row
And McElwain is still the only coach in SEC history to get there his first two years…
Richt would have had two teams in the playoffs under the current four team format. If the BCS were still the way of determining the NC in 2017, Georgia would not have made it. You need to compare apples to apples.
Richt had a lot more then 4 years to do it.
Georgia is the Michigan of the South, great history and tradition however not an elite team since 1980. Georgia fans need to realize that and they are a GREAT team.
And like Michigan, who are we realistically gonna hire who’s better?
Not really. Michigan has won many championships in their great history.
Georgia won one championship that is recognized by anyone but Georgia.
Georgia: where 5 stars go to waste
Florida: where no 5 stars go. Unless they get arrested and punished at another school, gets mad and throws a hissy fit because they got punished, gets mad because they are fifth on the depth chart and all the freshmen who just came in are better and are going to push him even further down the depth chart and then transfers to your school. Yeah that how Florida got their one five star player. Joe Burrow for Heisman.
Right, no 5 stars and yet right behind Georgia in the East in the second year of a rebuild.
Fla is always rebuilding and Dan Mullins is what 10 and 0 vs Ga? Lol
Exactly. Behind Georgia
I see you’ve found something to focus on other than your last forty years unrealized expectations.
Here’s to your next 14,000 days without a championship.
I bet UF wins another championship before UGAly does.
It’s glorious watching you fail.
Not as glorious as beating you in Jax 3 years in a row.
21 yds rushing….. So close…
Yep. We’ve had one year in our history without any five stars on our roster. This year.
Enjoy it, I guess. Whatever alleviates the sting of humiliating failure…
Stars don’t mean anything. Pollock was a 3 star. He was a beast.
STARS DON’T MEAN ANYTHING??????? THEN WHY HAS GEORGIA CELEBRATED WINNING THE COLLEGE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FOR RECRUITING THE PAST 2 YEARS IN A ROW???!!!! IF STARS DON’T MEAN ANYTHING WHY IS YOUR FANBASE GETTING RINGS MADE FOR COMING #1 IN RECRUITING???????????? NOBODY ELSE DOES THAT CRAP?
Nobody does. It’s you that keeps bringing it up
That’s why yall are in the SEC championship game right?
Is that your only take? You have posted it at least twice. Getting there is one thing. Losing in blowout fashion is another.
We’ve been there before; we’ll be there again.
What scares you is that it took you so long to get out from under our boot and you have nothing to show for it. And now, here come the Gators again.
It’s a shame I won’t know any of you in twenty years when we’ve won a few more championships, and you guys are 21,000 days and counting…
Astounding arrogance, as if future success is guaranteed for the Gators.
No Dawg fan is scared of the Gaturds right now. It’s silly to even say such a thing.
Dawg fans SHOULD be scared, considering Florida degrees make Florida grads your BOSSES AT WORK while georgia degrees come on rolls of toilet paper.
Now this chain of comments has been very fun to follow. SEC rivalry and insult hurling at it’s best!
Considering Georgia’s entire season, it is clear we regressed significantly on offense this year. That is on the coaches (we definitely had the on-field talent to do better) and it is time to ask whether it’s the fault of the OC or the head coach. So many people blamed Cheney for what they saw as shortcomings last year and many saw Coley as a savior prior to the start of this season. Now some people are turning on Coley. It’s two offensive coordinators in a row. When do we look higher on the food chain?
Coley was toast in week four. Pretending it would be ok was Kirby’s mistake.
What was he supposed to say? “Coley sucks but I can’t fire him until the season is over”? He has to back him until he doesn’t.
No one saw Coley as a savior. More like a “oh… okay let’s see what happens. Can’t be worse than schotty”
I saw several posts before the season that celebrated Coley’s departure and gushed about Coley.
Cheney’s departure, that is.
Exactly. Chaney wasn’t awful. Again, just two years ago, this team was playing — and leading — in the National Championship Game with Chaney as OC. And UGA tried to keep him this year. But Coley was basically his understudy last year and most of us UGA fans figured there wouldn’t be a drastic dropoff once he took over the offense. But there clearly was. No the wide receivers didn’t step up, but there were a bunch of things Coley could have done to help the team and just didn’t. But my fear is that Kirby, as he has already done, will not look internally at the problems, but blame this year on the fact that four receivers left for the NFL and then injuries. Using that theory, Kirby will probably fire or demote Cortez Hankton as WR coach (because that is low-hanging fruit) and then keep Coley but hire someone (perhaps Mike Bobo) as an offensive analyst or perhaps as outright QB coach, and then if Coley faulters again NEXT year, Smart has his man already in place to replace him.
I would love it if he brought CMB in. I’ve been saying that all season. And while he’s at it, change the offense from pro-style, run all the time to more of a spread.
Our massive Oline isn’t built for spread offense
If the team isn’t winning, is it the head coach’s fault?
If the team isn’t scoring, is the OC’s fault?
If the team is loaded with 4/5 stars, is it the player’s fault?
If the players aren’t being developed enough to win, is the assistant coaching staff’s fault?
Who’s turn is it this week on the revolving wheel of blame? Heads must roll!
Coley did not choose to lose 5 receivers to the NFL. Or have Gager hurt, blaylock hurt, swift hurt and Pickens suspended. Fromm is not a championship QB.
Neither was John Parker Wilson or Greg McElroy
Welcome to our world.
Georgia fans, first let me say I am not trolling you, i am so serious about what I am going to say. I really don’t think it’s in the cards for your program to EVER win a national championship. Ever in life!!! NEVER! Not trolling you guys, just stating an obvious fact.
The Bama-UGA game next year will be really interesting. It’ll be a Sept. game between two programs that will be very unhappy with their previous season.
The only difference is Bama has won 5 Natty’s in the last 10 years. Georgia is stuck on 1 Natty 40 years ago.
Your reply demonstrates that you’re more interested in trolling than anything else.
I hate to agree with a Georgia fans, but you have not said anything of substance. You are trolling.
Please put down your iPad or break all of your fingers.
“Please put down your iPad or break all of your fingers.”
Gotta up-vote that statement.
And Bama is on the down slide and you are talking about Ga. I’m not trolling though. Lol
I agree that a 10-2 record is sub par for Bama. However, Georgia has been on the “down slide” since 1981.
Fun fact: Georgia Tech has won a championship more recently than Georgia.
No, they didn’t. They claimed a share of one, but it was neither unanimous nor outright. It was equivalent to what UCF did, just minus going undefeated.
That’s not true. They were ranked a national champion (co-champion), which was the process at the time. The fact that it was through a voting/ranking process and shared, does not diminish or negate that championship.
If you don’t recognize that championship, then you would need to do the same for every national champion prior to the BCS system.
Fun fact Kirby is 3-0 vs Mullet
Fun fact Ed O is 2-0 vs UGA. I guess we both know what it’s like to be owned by another team. Diff we are closing the gap on the field vs UGA while the gap on the field between UGA vs LSU is widening
How exactly are you closing the gap? Please enlighten me.
@ben you used to be a reasonable fan that posted good points. Now you’re just a troll. You’re just as bad as corch and TDOW and every other dawg troll you complain about all the time. UF isn’t where UGA is. You aren’t closing the gap. Mullet is a good coach but Kirby has his number. The talent gap could close and Kirby would still be the better coach.
Have you not paid attention to the scores of the UF vs UGA game. Three years ago UGA beat UF 41-7, last year UGA beat UF by 19. This year they beat UF by 7. That’s why I said on the field not recruiting. So the game is getting closer every year I would consider that closing the gap.
I’m not trying to troll anyone. But I’m not going to agree with everything you say. Obviously we are both bias to our teams but you have made some ridiculous comments
What “ridiculous comments” have I made? I think you’re goat roping me in with everyone else.
Obnoxiously said.
Umm, predictions aren’t facts…
Other than 1980.
Is this all you have to say?
The Fields-Fromm tweets are just idiotic. The lack of offensive production isn’t due to the QB. It’s due to the coaches. And Fields wouldn’t look near as good were he facing SEC defenses.
Everyone agrees Fields matches the THE offense better than the UGA scheme.
Honestly Fromm just doesn’t seem to perform unless there’s competition
And Fields’ first half n the Big 10 championship was largely uninspiring. Will be interesting to see his second half.
The Kirby-Smart-is-racist tweet is the worst of the bunch. Not sure why it was even included in this piece, to be honest.
Totally agree. I was shocked to see SDS even give a platform for that kind of divisive drivel.
Not racist. Just strongly prefers an inferior white quarterback to a vastly superior black quarterback who transferred out due to… wait for it…
…racism.
Fromm an inferior quarterback? You’re delusional. Fields would have been eaten alive in the SEC East, especially with the receivers Georgia had this year. He’s been above-average at Ohio State – he hasn’t ever had to put that team on his back.
Oh, but it’s racist to pick the steady QB that took you to a national championship over the unpolished passer without game experience.
Or so he claims. If the environment was so racist, why didn’t any of the other black players seem to have a problem with it?
Thanks for demonstrably proving yourself to be the idiot we all thought you were. If the only thing you see from the complex situation of differing QB styles and differing offensive schemes is skin color, then in fact you’re the racist. Congratulations. What you failed to consider is that perhaps Fromm was better suited for UGA’s offensive style which might have taken Fields a year or two to become comfortable with. Or perhaps his talent was mismanaged by an inflexible, stubborn OC. Or perhaps the coaching staff thought Fromm gave them a better chance to win quickly because of his command of the offense. Or any other strategic or tactical reasons. But for you, no, it’s just as simple as skin color because Kirby is the coach of your major rival and therefore is bad and racist. LOL, what a joke.
Fromm has never thrown 40 touchdowns with 1 interception and rush for another 9 tds…Fields was MVP of conference title game…he is superior period the dawgs couldnt win with sony michel, nick chubb, issac nauta, mecole hardman, riley ridley….uga team was never his till this year he was along for ride..now it’s his team…facts
Yea I was surprised to see that myself. Then again, there are people out there that blame everything on racism. I’m not saying there’s not racism, because there is (and it’s wrong), but there are also other reasons things happen.
Just like Saban being racist benching Jalen for Tua….see how ridiculous that sounds.
Amen!
I agree. I still think Fromm is a better QB than Fields.
Slight difference between Fromm and Fields. Fields is undefeated, won his conference championship and is headed to the playoffs. Fromm, well… lost to SC, lost his conference championship game by 27 points and is out of the playoffs for the second straight year. Fromm is a game manager on his best day…..I’m sure Fields is glad he left georgia for a playoff team.
No way….40 touchdowns 1 interception…mvp of conference championship….and 8 or 9 rushing tds….i think justin will be in top ten heisman voting i bet fromm wont make the list…facts….di some reading my friend
Fromm will be a better pro prospect. Chris Weinke won the Heisman over Drew
Brees, we see how that turned out.
Not true Fields would be good no matter where…Ohio State can play with anybody always could.SEC defenses tough but Clemson is national champions without playing in SEC…Fields is doing something Joe Burrows of L SU didnt do start at Ohio State…Burrows from Big 10 he look like he handled SEC defenses pretty good to me. And Mr. Burrow no disrespect intended your very good. Just stating facts..Ohio State previous qb in NFL I would say they do alright…
Such hate from our “fans”. Mark Richt is a better man. Kirby Smart is a better coach and recruiter.
If you are going to be a UGA fan, you support your coach, not bash him and calling him names asking for him to be fired.
I still like Kirby. His teams compete and play with a good amount of bite. With the exception of SC this year, his teams never really fall flat in situations that are totally unexpected.
What concerns me is how much he is influencing the offense. He needs to hire an OC and then leave the room. To be more specific, he needs to fire Coley, hire a good OC, and then leave the room.
Those are the facts. If Joe Burrow was on Georgia’s team he’d be Fromm’s backup. Not because he isn’t better but because he’s not Jake Fromm. I don’t get it. Fromm must be having girlfriend problems or something. He’s really bad and used to be very accurate.
He’s in a slump because he doesn’t trust his receivers. It happens. And if you will recall the talk earlier in the season about how he pushes and his accuracy falls when he throw more than 25-30 passes in a game, that happened yesterday too.
Reminds me of Les Miles.
Under Kirby UGA seasons are now being determined successful or not in December or later.
Under Richt, it was usually determined by late October or November.
Kirby is doing just fine. The idiots need to chill.
Y’all want Muschamp… cuz I mean, y’all can just like, have him. We don’t really want anything in return
Funny. And true.
So….he’s now a free agent “coach in waiting”?
I wonder where Kirby will coach next. Maybe Memphis.
Not sure, pretty sure he will be at UGA for quite some time. Now if he turns into a little baby like Saban, I would want him gone. “WaaaaWaaa, that play Gus ran was not fair” Get a man for a coach before you start trolling: Pretty sure Kirby will come right out and say it, Dawgs got whipped. Not gonna come up with excuses like Nicole.
Come on man. Saban has an entire hand decorated in NC rings at Alabama.
You’re seriously saying his comments post Auburn would keep you from wanting him to coach Georgia? GTFOH. That logic is dumb AF.
I’ll stick with Kirby, yes. Thank you
Love the response. Bama fans cant handle the losses
@Xtreme454: You mean like the embarrassing 37-10 woodshed shellacking georgia just took in the SEC championship game?
@IH8BAMA : Congratulations to the undercover georgia bulldog fan of the year IH8BAMA!!! Five national championships in ten years and you are phucking complaining!!!!! Then go ahead and be a georgia fan and enjoy 1 natty in 40 years! IH8BAMA ….The official spokeperson of the Georgia Bulldogs.
Kind of embarrassed yourself here. That’s ok though. You are welcome to share your thoughts with us on this forum.
Kirby isn’t the problem. Not directly. He needs to find his own Joe Brady. Uga has the studs to win if Kirby wants to get over his pride.
And what could make you think Kirby will change? Honestly, a majority of uga fan’s christened him greatest ever at the beginning of this season. Kirby running up and down the sidelines screaming at his coaches says he wasn’t prepared.
Or is says he’s an emotional coach. And seeing that he’s only in his 4th year, I think it will take some time before any of us can say if he will or will not change.
He is a man baby… so there’s that!
I’ve seen Saban do that to. Kirby needs a little more time; Georgia is a good team just needs a little something extra.
Kirby is fat guy with visor, nothing more. Georgia fans and gaWire writers have been wasting their time all year writing about Florida football and Dan Mullen failures at recruiting more than worrying about their lack of winning big games and no national championships in almost 40 years. Have some humility and worry about your own team And its inability to win with incredible talent. #DanMullenCan’tRecruitButCanWinWith3StarPlayers. And Florida beat South Carolina and gave LSU a run for their money. #GeorgiaGetsBeatAndBlownOut
Yea and you still lost to the Dawgs!
I’ve seen lots of bad takes recently but “Kirby is fat guy with visor, nothing more.” is at or near the top…
It’s a little too much to say a program is a failure for not winning a NC. There’s many deserving teams every year but only one NC.
you ever wonder why Chaney left a program doing well to coach the same role at a program that was rebuilding?
Funny, Muschamp brought in three OCs with completely different styles, but d@mmit we ran the dive play really well with all three. And let me tell you about ball control. Theeee best in the SEC.
He left because Tennessee was willing to pay him more money than Georgia was. Literally nothing more.
Glad Kirby Dumb let him go. Yeah, he sure is a genius coach.
He left because Kirby has created a dynamic too heavily weighted to OL recruiting, by breaking the bank with Sam Pittman. He can’t pay an OC big money because they’re already paying relatively big money to Pittman.
UT Knew Chaney is quality OC, UGA lost him, simple.
Pride. It is his downfall. And his ridiculous attachment to Jake Fromm.
It seems to me GA is playing “old school” Bama ball from 5 years ago. Times have changed and that won’t get it any more. Even Saban changed to a high powered offense. Fromm is a great game manager but not an elite throwing QB which is needed for an explosive offense. Run and and play great D used to be the formula but this is today and GA needs a great innovative offensive coordinator to go along with their talent. One who can build an offensive powerhouse while maintaining their elite D. Smart needs to change with the times or get run over by them.
Fromm has a very high football IQ. But ask yourself why Richt wouldn’t even offer a scholarship to Fromm, an in-state kid and proven winner dating back to his Little League World Series Days.
That’s an interesting comment. But I got a better one how can a kid throw 40 touchdowns and 1 interception in arguably the second best football conference in America. Ohio state can play with anyone. Kirby chose wrong …period ..and that doesnt included the rushing tds Fields has….
Think LSU.
It’s funny to read all the bashing and comparisons of Kirby and Richt. Truth is they are both good coaches with some flaws in each. Each during the early part of their tenure has put Georgia in a position to win a Championship. Unfortunately, in order to win a Championship there has to be a little good karma thrown in to the mix (or as the HBC was fond of saying “God smiled upon the Gators today”). It seems that those small strokes of luck, good fortune, karma or whatever just seem to be missing for the dawgs over the past 40 years. Or is it more than that? When one reviews great fortune or lightning striking to pave the way to a Championship one play is almost always mentioned…….Lindsey Scott. Perhaps that was such a stroke of good fortune that the dawgs may have to wait a while longer to be due again. After all those things,as the HBC pointed out, are beyond our control. The one thing wrong with my theory is how you explain Saban and Bama. Maybe he has cut a deal with the devil and there will be a steep price down the road! Only time will tell. Nevertheless congratulations to UGA on another good season. Wasn’t what you wanted but there are a lot of other schools would love to be in your shoes!
While you’re not wrong we all have to make our own luck, good fortune or Karma. Even then, once made, we have to be able to take advantage of it or it’s wasted. Still you’re right about other schools wanting to be in the position GA is in now. They might not have made the play offs or won the SEC but they had a shot for it while everyone else sat at home and watched.
Thank you for saying this! Especially from a Florida fan! If there were more like you I would pull for Fl if Fa isn’t in the running
LOL I have a lot of Georgia in my roots from playing high school ball against Nick Hyder’s West Rome teams, several cousins having played for UGA and spending my summers on my Grandparents farm in Lowndes County. Back then everyone knew Jacksonville was the capital of South Georgia and there wasn’t much difference between the old school Florida or Georgia fans just the ones that came along in the last 30 years or so! Don’t get me wrong I love beating UGA but wish them ill will only one day a year down by the river.
Absolutely solid take.
UGA’s window has come and gone. Good luck having success now that Florida is coming back. UGA had a few years to get this done, the few years that Florida was down. Welp, too late now. The division is about to be a lot harder to win.
Not only Florida, UT is also improving.
We never seriously had a shot against LSU, and that was before the decimation of the sorry excuse we call our receiving corps. LSU is LOADED this year and the game played out exactly as I called it.
Offense is lousy, defense is elite and does their best to keep it close, eventually wears down and Georgia got no turnovers early to flip the script. They needed to cash in at EVERY opportunity and they went bust doing the same thing on offense that has happened all year. This defense paired with the 2017 offense would’ve been a different ball game but we aren’t in 2017.
Dawgs have to eat this loss and this time not fail to show up in the Sugar or Citrus against whoever they play next.
And the minute LSU’s season is over, THE MINUTE IT IS, they need to back a fat truck of cash up to Joe Brady’s desk and hire him as OC before LSU does. And then Kirby needs to let him do his job and not meddle with the process.
Brady said he is “absolutely” combing back to LSU next year.
Money always talks. Always.
Brady will not make a lateral move. And for all the talk about his “NFL offense,” there’s nothing truly innovative or special about the concepts.
Take away Burrow and those receivers and it’s just another spread offense.
They won’t get Brady. Doesn’t matter how many Brinks trucks to they send over. But he does need to throw some money at Bobo. No one can argue with the offensive numbers Georgia put up under Bobo. Drop Cooley back down to A.O/C-TE coach. And recruit a dual threat quarterback.
You did recruit a dual threat quarterback.
LSU will not let anyone outbid them for Brady.
Why would you fire him? He is a great recruiter. He just needs to change his o.
Kirby is 7-4 vs top 10 teams, to say he can’t win big games is ignorant. The offense definitely cost him this year, the way he handles it going forward could decide how good of a head coach he actually is. Time to demote Coley and bring in a top offensive mind.
Blah blah blah! Buncha rednecks with your commentary. Living your pathetic lives vicariously through 18 to 22 year olds as if somehow, their successes and failures were yours. It’s sick….
What are you doing here?
Smart should have came to USC instead, UGA fans think they are higher up the ladder in the SEC than they truly are. Go ahead and fire Smart we will be glad to have him in Columbia where he should have come to begin with. At least UGA went undefeated in the East, oh wait…
1. If a team cannot control the line of scrimmage, then they have to get over the top of it or outside of it faster than the secondary can get there. Georgia didn’t even challenge the line of scrimmage in all four quarters. If you have 85 scholarships you have 42 offensive. 22 linemen, 8 backs, 12 receivers roughly. Where were the GA backs and functional receivers (question for the coaching staff) yesterday ?
2. A secondary gets beat when they get out-numbered in part of the field or lose challenges in any space. Georgia didn’t try to out-number LSU anywhere (paper playbooks don’t show timing) and LSU 1v1 pass coverage was better than Georgia’s receivers ability to get/stay in windows.
3. I didn’t see a reason for a quarter-back debate in that game. Contrast that with any 2019 Mississippi game.
I know patience in the age of social media is a relic of previous times, but it takes time to win an national championship. Kirby is in his 4th year and has done a great job so far. No current head coach who has won a national championship did so within the first 10 years of being a head coach. It is (obviously) downright hard to win one and as other people have said almost always takes lucky breaks and fortunate turns. While yes, you can and should put yourself in a position to “make your own luck” it is impossible to control every circumstance and great teams don’t always win every game. Any proclamations about Kirby’s ceiling regarding what he can or cannot win is premature. And unless you have a crystal ball, it’s nothing more than emotionally-fueled conjecture. Also, how many programs would change their current situation with Georgia’s or their current coach for Smart? And what other coach could Georgia bring in to replace Smart and expect immediate and better results? Twitter is a vile cesspool of idiocy and emotion. The comments from that platform are synonymous with knee-jerk, hot headed takes (prime example being the tweet calling Smart a racist) where virtually no one sits and reflects before typing. If you feel something, then it must be true and therefore let’s declare it as if an emotionally-laden viewpoint cannot possible be wrong — I feel, there I’m right. Look, Tennessee and Florida are on the rise and Georgia can’t always win the East. Georgia can’t always win every SEC championship game it appears in. There will be wins and there will be losses. But none of that means Smart is destined to never win big or that the rise of traditional East powers (which is a good thing) means that the window for Georgia has closed. For all the glory of Spurrier’s reign, he only won a single national championship despite winning the East six consecutive times. And while he dominated some rivals mercilessly (UGA) he had trouble against others (FSU), but he was still a historically good coach. People expect perfection immediately. The internet and social media fuel this. So long as it stay within the realm of the internet, fine. But we shouldn’t let it cloud actual, real decision making. Yesterday’s loss was expected, but the manner in which it unfolded was nevertheless disappointing. The best of luck to an amazing LSU team (I’ll be pulling for them all the way) and I hope UGA can finish out strong.
Georgia fans need to get over themselves. Smart is a fantastic coach, and all he seems to do is win the SEC East for your entitled program. No Georgia fan should have expected to have a close game with LSU. LSU is probably going to win the National Championship.
Simply find a new OC and WR coach, and you’ll see improvement on offense next year.
Georgia ran into a steamroller. This LSU team is an aberration. Joe Burrow is probably about as good a college QB as we have ever seen. He’s got an OL that gives him time to find an open guy, and when there is pressure, he is able to move and keep looking or run it himself. He has some great receivers who know how to break out of their routes and get open when he is scrambling around. They have a “do it all” running back who is very effective in all areas. Now that a normal LSU Defense has showed up Georgia was put behind the eight ball early in this game and could never recover. Everything fell in place for LSU this year and they have been on an even keel for the entire season. They are justifiably confident at this point. Georgia will have to figure out how to get better, but, I would not bash this year’s team too much, they ran into a very special LSU team.
Burrow went from Blake Bortles to Patrick Mahomes in one season.
Kirby Smart is just maintaining the esteemed traditions of Mark Richt.
I don’t think Richt was a bad coach.
I heard Jake Fromm’s college major is Incomplete Passes.
Choosing Fromm over Fields doesn’t make Smart a bad coach and definitely not a dumb coach. It’s just that Fromm may have the intangibles and fits into what the Georgia offense better than Fields. Saban chose Tagovailoa over Jalen Hurst. Would anybody on this blog consider Saban a bad or dumb coach?
Doing my best here to keep my orange and blue bias outside of this.
The main thing I keep wondering is if Smart is more Saban, or Fisher. Both are good coaches that can recruit well and typically have their teams in a position to compete. But Saban has always been able to modify his team to his talent and produce, whereas Fisher needs an immense talent at QB to make things work. UGA was dominant in year 2 because of a crazy producing Fromm and a loaded receiver core, and it’s been (small but steady) decline since. Florida learned the hard way that even the best teams can’t produce when there’s no production at the QB role unless you can scheme out of it.
I guess we’ll find out sooner or later.
Jimbo Fisher was OC for LSU when they won the NC with Matt Mauck, who was a game manager.
Wow there must be at least 200 or so likes total for all 40 tweets you shared. Now that’s really getting roasted there. What a waste of internet ink.
Lol man people are dumb. I love to give UGA sh*t but how can you blame the Justin Field thing on smart. What was he supposed to do play a true freshman over a QB that just took him to the NC. Yes Fields is a great player but he was never a fit for the UGA offense. I’m surprised he even went to IGA in the first place
NOW do ya miss Chaney??
All the hate out of jealousy. Ten and Fla are “rebuilding”.. I don’t ever remember Ga being rebuilt. We just keep rolling along being good every year.
Only UT fans are dumb enough to lose to a team 43-14 on their home field, and then poke fun at that teams for what they didn’t accomplish. Just wow.
Kirby Smart is leading the way in “Happiest person that Joe Burrow is out of eligibility now”
Game 1, Baton Rouge both top 5 teams, Ga favored. Final score LSU 36 Georgia 16
Game 2, SEC Championship, Atlanta, Georgia MUST win to get to advance to CFP, brings in #1 defense Final score
LSU 37 Georgia 10
Sure that vaunted defense only gave up 20 once this season in 2ot loss. LSU averaged 36.5 in two games and surrendered and average of 13 points. Margin of victory avg. 23.5 in last two games.
Safe to say Georgia is NOT yet on the same level. Talent wise, absolutely! Better find a Joe Brady or someone to get that spread, RPO, westcoast air raid hybrid offensive scheme established! Make sure to get the talented backup “Justin Feilds” plenty of reps, learn to be comfortable in the shotgun formation! He should become a star! Wait… Kirby did what!?? He let Feilds walk? Nooo, I questioned him not inserting Feilds into LSU game last year in Baton Rouge to provide a spark. He let him walk! Now he’s captaining a playoff team, Heisman hopeful, and Jake Fromm State Farm needs to go sell insurance! Just poking fun at the Dawgs nation.
Oh, LSU moved up to #1 after taking Fromm and Kirby behind the ole wood shed if you didn’t hear…
I am confused…it seems that there are many fans of other teams that seem to think that their teams cannot beat Georgia. It seems that Georgia only loses because UGA has such inept coaches and players that we actually give it away. That does not speak well of your teams.
Nobody is recruiting bad players. You do have to play the other team who is not going to roll over and quit…usually. I understand that social media is really for the naysayers, so my advice is to UGA fans is to ignore the hate. Turn it off. Whatever you do, do not buy into the quick fixers. I would guess that most of the naysayers are actually just wanting us to shoot ourselves in the foot by giving the appearance of an uncertain future for Kirby Smart.
SEC fans have been trying to tell the jorts for 4 years now. All they did was fire Mark Richt and hire Mark Richt 2.0 Perhaps now the truth of it is finally starting to sink in on some of the smarter ones.
If only Jake could also catch his passes too, since his receivers don’t.
