Kirby Smart and Todd Monken weren’t thrilled with rumors stating that Georgia had set up spy cameras around Mercedes-Benz Stadium to view Ohio State’s practices leading up to the Peach Bowl.

With a spot in Jan. 9’s national championship game on the line, the Bulldogs know that they’ll face a hungry Buckeyes squad that will look to land the program’s 1st title since 2014. But Smart’s team apparently hasn’t gone the route of the New England Patriots to gain an advantage on its opponent.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about. I mean, that’s ludicrous,” Smart replied, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Chip Towers.

Monken had a little more fun with his response.

“I hope we’ve been in their hotel. I hope we’ve been in their practices. I hope we’re logged into their computers,” the Bulldogs’ offensive coordinator joked.

Towers noted that yes, a camera was found in Mercedes-Benz Stadium. But it’s not what you think.

“There was a camera found in the stadium before the Buckeyes, first practice at Mercedes-Benz Stadium this week during a routine security sweep, according to people familiar with the situation,” he wrote. “The camera belonged to the stadium as a permanent fixture and was not being operated at the time. Ohio State was informed about it, the camera promptly was removed and everybody moved on.”

The original rumor came from writer Jeff Snook, an Ohio State graduate that, according to his website, has co-written autobiographies with individuals such as Frank Beamer. But it appears that he has some explaining to do.
