Kirk Herbstreit says Stetson Bennett IV has to 'get his mojo back' for Florida game
The Georgia Bulldogs are 4-1 at the halfway point of the 2020 season, but there are some concerns for Kirby Smart’s team.
The last 2 games (against Alabama and Kentucky), QB Stetson Bennett IV has thrown 5 total interceptions.
On Tuesday night on ESPN, analyst Kirk Herbstreit said the Bulldogs need Bennett to get his mojo back for this weekend’s game against Florida (via 247Sports):
“The challenge is where are we with Stetson Bennett and the balance of this offense? They could run the ball, but against Florida, they’re going to need to be able to stay up with Kyle Trask,” Herbstreit said Tuesday on ESPN. “That means Bennett is going to have to make plays, and he was. That dude plays with a chip on his shoulder, and he plays with an attitude. Now, he’s thrown five interceptions in the last couple of games.
“He went from being everybody’s favorite son to this guy is a bum. That affects your mindset. That affects who you are. They’ve got to get his mojo back and get his confidence back. I don’t think Florida can play with Alabama. I do think Georgia can, so they’ve got to find a way to get it going this weekend.”
Will Bennett turn things around in Jacksonville? We’ll see what happens on Saturday, but his leash could be pretty short.
I would love for Herbstreit to explain why he thinks that Florida can’t compete with Bama but Georgia can. Apparently he missed the Georgia – Bama game a couple weeks ago. I am not saying that Florida would beat Bama but I can honestly say that at this point, a Florida – Bama would be better than the Georgia- Bama game from 2 weeks ago. I just love how these dudes make these statements but never even attempt to explain themselves.
I agree 100 %
Big Ole ditto.
Wish I could get my mojo back. It’s been years.
what is so confusing to me is this article is implying that stinking Stetson actually HAD moko. I’m sorry did I miss something.
*has anyone seen the movie “Groundhog Day”?
Mojo…. moko, schmoko
I agree, Dcope. Either way, they all have the same explanatory power viz., none.
My exact thought…when did Stetson every have mojo. Are they still referring to the second half Arkansas game? No good. New coaches, new schemes on offense and defense and cleaning up the Morris mess. I just dont think it would be 30+ points in the second half if they played now. Still a win, just not 37 points.
I agree with this. He was serviceable against Arkansas and Auburn but I wouldn’t say he had mojo. I’ll say he does not lack in confidence, though I’m not sure why given his play.
Jeez, all of these defiant and angry comments questioning why and/or when did bennet ever have “mojo.”
i don’t believe anyone, herbstreit included has ever claimed bennett to be an elite or even an above avg qb in the conf. he lead uga to a 37-10 win over ark, 27-6 win over ark, 44-21 win over tn and a 24-20 lead over bama at halftime. what’s not to like or to claim he had some type of “mojo” or moxy to him in over-achieving before collapsing against bama in the 2nd half and the lackluster performance against uk last week???
this game should tell whether he was truly a flash in the pan or whether he can carry a team to a victory against a really good team.
I actually feel sorry for Stetson Bennett IV. He has come into the QB position and let’s face it he has not played badly. Thrown a few picks, but he is still “new” to playing in actual SEC football games. *Seems to me that the fact that Fields is at Ohio State and not at Georgia dominates the thoughts of Dawg fans too much. Be thankful for what you’ve got & embrace him as your QB since Kirby is not going to make a change.
From what i’ve read, i believe the majority of dawg fans have moved on from fields…..it’s the sds staff which keep publishing articles about him and wondering what could have been
According to u he played Arkansas twice. Regardless, dig a little deeper. Stinking Stetson has thrown 7 t.d.’s … (wait for it) and 5 interceptions. I didn’t have time to figure out how many knocked down passes he’s had. So, when I look at it I think he has some mofo, but definitely not mojo
Seriously? I mistakenly typed ark twice, as opposed to aub for the 2nd game.
u state that you dove deeper, yet failed to actually do so. the whole basis behind the statements that he HAD “mojo” was based off his performance in his first 3 1/2 games. his 7td and 5 ints are his collective stats for the season through 5 games. his stats during the period in which he HAD the alleged “mojo” during the first 3 1/2 games was 7tds to 1 int. is that bad? is that not good for a former walk on qb?
above are facts…..when u “dig a little deeper”
no one, at least not me is saying that he looked good during the 2nd half of the bama game or during the uk game….in which he’s coming off 0 tds and 4 ints.
as i said in my original post, we’ll find out on sat whether he can bounce back or will crumble under the pressure.
Sure will find out
And please stop talking like a lawyer. Like you’re bringing a case before the court… alleged mojo. Smh
And… I’d like to bring a case before the court. If the saying “it’s great to be a georgia bulldog ” ain’t a lie, I don’t know what is. 1. They don’t hunker down and 2. I’ve had sex with more ga. Girls than any of these dog turds. “Hunker down for a fight “. Aaahhaaaaa
I don’t think Florida can play with Alabama. I do think Georgia can. How does that even make sense. Nobody knows if Florida can play with Bama. Georgia has already shown that they can’t. At the very least Georgia didn’t.
Yeah it’s a strange take.. It appears UGA hasn’t actually changed anything since the Bama game but now all the sudden they can play with Bama…
LMAO
Yeah. They’re woof woof. Sorry, my dog just took a dump. She’s mad as hell too! She said ” I’m embarrassed to have some bulldog in me”. I tried to console ( big words ga. fans use: speak in ebonics, meow like a cat, etc.) But she’s still pissed. I finally said, “beat them gators”.. bith tore down the curtains. Facts
