Some stories are bigger than the football games. One of those larger than the sport storylines will take place in Athens on Saturday when Georgia hosts Arkansas State.

The wife of Arkansas State coach Blake Anderson, Wendy, passed away in August after a two-year battle with breast cancer. To honor her memory, Georgia fans have started a social media campaign called #WearPinkForWendy for Saturday’s game.

On Thursday afternoon’s The Paul Finebaum Show, Anderson spoke about how touching a gesture it is to see what the Bulldogs fans are planning to do for him and his family.

“I was overwhelmed with it (hearing about the campaign). It brought me to tears,” Anderson said.

“I’m so grateful for the show of support from the fans and for whoever came up with the idea.”

Wendy passed away on Aug. 19 at the age of 49. Anderson took a leave of absence immediately before football season to be with his wife and family.
