One of the big stories in the SEC this week was 5-star freshman TE Arik Gilbert opting out of the rest of the LSU season and considering transfer options.
Gilbert was reportedly homesick, which raised the eyebrows of many Georgia fans, as Gilbert is a native of Marietta, Georgia.
After Saturday’s 49-14 win at Mizzou, Georgia coach Kirby Smart raised some eyebrows, too, making an interesting comment about tight ends in his postgame press conference:
“You can never have enough tight ends in the SEC.” — Kirby Smart with a rather interesting comment given this week.

Smart and OC Todd Monken got TE Darnell Washington involved in the offense in the second half, when he had 2 catches for 61 yards. Was that also a message to Gilbert?
Nothing has happened yet with Gilbert potentially transferring, but you can bet if he does enter the NCAA transfer portal, he’ll quickly be hearing from Smart and the Dawgs.
