For the second consecutive season, former Georgia RB Keith Marshall will be sidelined with an injury.

ESPN’s John Keim reported that Marshall tore his patellar tendon in his right knee and won’t be able to play this year. Marshall missed the 2016 season due to an elbow injury he suffered during the preseason.

Unfortunately, injuries have been a bigger story for Marshall than his actual production on the field. Marshall was one of the top rated running backs in high school and signed with Georgia. While he flashed some exciting ability with the Bulldogs, he suffered knee injuries and other ailments that kept his production somewhat minimal. He played in just eight games during the 2013 and 2014 seasons combined.

Now, he’s having the same issues in the NFL. There’s no denying Marshall’s ability — he ran the fastest 40-time at the 2016 NFL Combine of any player, but his ability to stay healthy and on the field have been major issues.

With this latest setback, Marshall will have to rehab another full year before hopefully playing in the NFL, but missing back-to-back seasons certainly is a tough situation to come back from.

Marshall was selected by the Redskins in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
