On draft day, the latest on Georgia RB Sony Michel isn’t the kind of news anyone wants to hear.

It was noted recently on The Ringer podcast “GM Street” that some teams have concerns about a bone-on-bone condition in Michel’s knee. The comments were picked up by Rotoworld and have now made the blogosphere.

After opting to return for his senior season (along with fellow running back Nick Chubb), Michel rushed for a career-high 1,227 yards, averaging a stellar 7.9 yards per carry.

While “GM Street” was the first time Michel was linked to the bone-on-bone condition specifically, it’s not the first documented instance of “concerns” surrounding the Bulldog ball-carrier. Earlier this month, NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock reportedly mentioned that “concerns” could bump Michel to the second round despite his first-round talent.

The timing of this news certainly makes it fair to question if teams are possibly spreading this story to make Michel drop to a later pick. It’s an unfortunate part of the “silly season” leading up to the actual draft.

Hopefully Michel lands with the right team and stays healthy in the NFL.
