Former Georgia standout linebacker Roquan Smith was picked No. 8 overall by the Chicago Bears, and he’ll be reunited with former UGA standout Leonard Floyd.

As the Georgia Bulldogs’ season progressed in 2017, so did Smith. He became the heart and soul of the Bulldogs’ defense, eating up ball carriers and getting after quarterbacks.

The Montezuma, Ga. native is a former high school WR with incredible athletic ability. Smith runs sideline to sideline as good or better than anyone in this year’s NFL Draft. The AP First Team All-American racked up a ridiculous 252 total tackles during his three-year career, including 20.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks.

Listed at 6-foot-1, 236 pounds, Smith has been lightly criticized for his lack of size, but what he lacks in size, he makes up for in every other facet. Although he played inside linebacker at Georgia, he could be better suited for weak side linebacker in the NFL.

Exiting high school, Smith was rated as a 4-star prospect, and he ranked as the nation’s No. 48 overall player, the No. 5 outside linebacker and the state of Georgia’s No. 6 overall player, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

No doubt he’ll be a great NFL linebacker, who could eventually become a Pro Bowler.
