One of the nation’s highest-rated high school seniors is set to make his college decision public this month as Dallas, Ga., native Smael Mondon is expected to announce his commitment in June.

The exact date of Mondon’s commitment has yet to be publicly announced but the five-star linebacker from Paulding County High School has stated his intention to declare his intentions at some point this month. Mondon’s declaration likely has Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee working the phone lines like crazy in an effort to win over the Peach State native before his final decision is made.

That wouldn’t be much of a surprise considering Mondon is rated as the No. 25 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 2 outside linebacker in the 2021 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

So which school will Mondon pick when the time comes?

With the five-star prospect’s recruitment winding down, Rivals National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell recently made his prediction.

“This is a hard one to call as Mondon is relatively quiet about the process and has interest in some great programs. Right now, I would say Georgia has the edge as Mondon is an in-state prospect and is such a priority in the class for Smart,” Farrell wrote.
