Stetson Bennett IV led his Georgia Bulldogs to a 37-0 win over Arkansas on Saturday. That almost never happened.

Bennett, who stepped in for JT Daniels, completed 7-of-11 passing for 72 yards and carried the ball 3 times for 16 yards. Daniels is still dealing with a lat injury and was held out of the Arkansas game.

After Saturday’s win, Bennett revealed that he almost wasn’t a Bulldog this season. He said he strongly considered transferring in search of more playing time prior to the 2021 campaign:

“You don’t play football forever, and you’d like to play football when you can play football,” Bennett said, via DawgNation. “It was a tough decision, probably one of the hardest that I ever made. It was tough and, at the end, I broke it down and I decided to stay.”

Bennett has transferred before. In 2018, he transferred from Georgia to Jones College in Ellisville, Mississippi, before returning to the Bulldogs.

With Daniels’ injury situation still unclear, Bennett could see more playing time. The Bulldogs play at Auburn on Saturday.
