If there is one advantage that Tennessee has over Georgia in today’s rivalry in Neyland Stadium, it’s likely at quarterback.

The Vols’ Hendon Hooker has proven to be one of the fastest rising stars in college football this season. In the meantime, Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett has been a bit of a question mark for the Bulldogs. After all, most thought that J.T. Daniels would be the starter this season for the Dawgs. However, Daniels has been sidelined – and sidetracked – by injuries for most of the season. Certainly, Bennett’s play is part of the reason Daniels hasn’t returned to the starting lineup. Bennett hasn’t been spectacular but he’s been consistent.

ESPN analyst Tim Tebow recently weighed in on Georgia’s quarterback situation on The Paul Finebaum Show via this report by On3. Tebow said Georgia’s players and coach Kirby Smart have full confidence in Bennett.

“I think that they believe it’s Stetson Bennett’s team,” the former Florida quarterback said. “I think you’re going to see, depending on how the game goes, probably both (quarterbacks). This is a run-first, play-defense-second team from their perspective. They think that the added benefit of Stetson Bennett’s legs makes their team better than the deep threat of J.T.’s arm in the passing game.

“I think Kirby loves to be able to control the game, win on their style of play. Gain first downs on the quarterback’s legs, put the ball into (running back) Zamir White’s hands, the offensive line, and trust the defense. I think he’s comfortable with that style of play and maybe that’s why he leans towards Stetson a little bit.”

Tebow should know. He helped Florida to two national championships and won The Heisman Trophy in 2007.
