Trevor Etienne appears set for his Georgia debut.

Etienne was announced as a Bulldog starter ahead of UGA’s home-opener against Tennessee Tech.

Etienne, a transfer from Florida, is expected to be Georgia’s RB1 in 2024. He missed Georgia’s season-opener, a 34-3 blowout of then-No. 14 Clemson in Atlanta, serving a suspension for an offseason arrest. Etienne had an initial charge for DUI dropped as part of a plea agreement.

Nate Frazier led the Georgia ground attack in Etienne’s absence against Clemson. Frazier rushed 11 times for 83 yards and a touchdown. The Dawgs also gave the ball to Cash Jones (1 carry, 15 yards), Branson Robinson (7 carries, 12 yards) and Chauncey Bowns (3 carries, 6 yards).

Etienne enters Year 3 of his college career after two standout seasons at Florida.

In 2023, Etienne was Florida’s leader in rushing touchdowns (8), yards per carry (5.7) and yards per game (68.4) while playing in 11 contests, making 1 start. Etienne had a career game in UF’s win over Tennessee. Against the Vols, Etienne rushed 23 times for 172 yards and 1 touchdown and was named the Doak Walker Running Back of the Week.

Etienne picked up Freshman All-SEC honors in 2022 after logging 118 rushes for 719 yards and 6 touchdowns. He cracked triple digits as a freshman with an 8-carry, 100-yard game in the win over South Carolina and a season-high of 129 yards against Florida State.

Etienne and the Dawgs face Tennessee Tech at 2 p.m. Saturday. The game is set to stream on ESPN+ and SEC Network+.
