Terrible news to share as Karl-Anthony Towns’ mother Jackie has passed due to the coronavirus. The Minnesota Timberwolves shared the news on Monday.

Just under three weeks ago, Towns shared an emotional video announcing his mother’s diagnosis.

The former No. 1 overall selection in the 2015 NBA Draft, Towns played one season for Kentucky during the 2014-15 season when he was named Second Team All-American as well as SEC Freshman of the Year by both the league’s coaches and the AP after averaging 10.3 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game. He also had a team-high 88 blocks.

During his NBA career, Towns has averaged 22.7 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. During that time, Towns has appeared in 358 games, all starts for the team, during his five seasons in the league.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Towns and his family at this time.
