If you missed it on Tuesday night, the debut College Football Playoff rankings of the 2018 season were released. Following Kentucky’s 15-14 win at Missouri, the Wildcats debuted at No. 9 in the rankings. You can view the full poll here.

Following the unveiling of the poll live on ESPN, the network’s group of analyst were discussing teams outside the top 7 that had a realistic possibility of winning the national championship. After Joey Galloway selected No. 13 West Virginia as his team on the outside looking in that could make some noise, show host Rece Davis asked if Kentucky could be that team.

“I’m skeptical of Kentucky’s offense,” Davis noted but then got into the fact the Wildcats have a chance to prove all their doubters wrong in the coming weeks. “No one has a better opportunity than them. They got Georgia this week, a match – if they win – with either Alabama or LSU (in the upcoming SEC Championship Game). Nobody has a better opportunity.”

That’s when Galloway interjected by bashing the No. 9 team in the nation.

“I thought we’re talking about things that you can accomplish, no one is thinking Kentucky is climbing that mountain,” Galloway said.

While Galloway may have a point, few outside of Lexington will be bold enough to make that prediction, Davis is also correct in noting that Kentucky will soon have a chance to do just that starting at home Saturday against Georgia.
