Good news for South Carolina? JUCO defender announces decommitment from Kentucky
The Early Signing Period came and went and Kentucky commit Joko Willis did not sign with Mark Stoops’ Wildcat program.
Now it appears there’s no chance Willis winds up in Lexington as the Independence Community College product announced his official decommitment from Kentucky. While he would be singing out of Independence C.C, Willis is a native of Lagrange, Ga.
That’s worth noting because the Peach State native landed a scholarship offer from Shane Beamer’s South Carolina program during the Early Signing Period.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Willis is rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 2 inside linebacker prospect in the nation from the junior college ranks according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Willis also rates as a top 25 junior college prospect in the nation.
South Carolina could certainly use some help at the linebacker position and now that Willis is officially no longer committed to Kentucky, that has to be a good sign for the Gamecocks moving forward.

I never heard what happened between Willis and the Wildcats. Best of luck to him wherever he ends up.
USC can use some good news. Even if it is a undersized LB from the JUCO ranks.
Yeah!kinda what I was thinking way under size for a guy that’s not straight out of high school been in a program for couple years and only weighs 215.I would think he has put on few pounds since arriving at independence campus so it makes me wonder what he weighed coming right out of high school playing linebacker standing 6’3.probably for sure little under 200 I’m guessing?not really what you picture when you think of a sec linbacker.but best of luck to him I will be pulling for him as I do all guys that is under size at there position he may turn heads this season who knows.
According to Rivals, he is hoping for an offer from Auburn, so there may be some competition for South Carolina signing him.
