Kentucky has officially added Eric Wolford to Mark Stoops’ staff as offensive line coach, his second stint with the program.

Wolford was Kentucky’s offensive line coach in 2021, and spent the last 2 seasons at Alabama. His hiring is contingent on the satisfaction of the school pre-employment screenings and other due diligence, UK said in an announcement.

“We are excited to bring Eric Wolford back to Kentucky,” Stoops said in a release. “Eric had a big impact in the year he spent with us and has only gained more SEC experience after working with Coach Saban and Alabama the last two seasons. Eric and I go way back and I’m looking forward to having him return to our program.”

UK is hoping that Wolford returns the “Big Blue Wall” to the heights it saw in his lone season in Lexington in 2021. Wolford was credited with rebuilding an offensive front that lost 3 starters into a unit that was a finalist for the Joe Moore Award, given annually to the nation’s top offensive line.

The Wildcats averaged 5.23 yards per carry that season, while 53.1% of their rush attempts went for 4 yards or more to lead the nation.

UK averaged 4.9 yards per rush last season under former offensive line coach Zach Yenser.
